How I got to know about Fortaleza and why it got me excited

We’ve had the same cleaner for nearly two decades and she has become part of the family. Eliane is from Fortaleza in Brazil and has told us many stories about why her hometown is an attractive place for property investors as well as for tourists.

Fortaleza is the capital of the northeastern Brazilian state of Ceará and the country’s fourth largest city. It’s a vibrant city which offers a mix of beautiful beaches, lively culture, and exciting activities. One of the city’s highlights is the Praia do Futuro, known for its lively beachfront with numerous barracas (beach shacks) offering delicious local cuisine and live music. For those interested in shopping and local crafts, the Feirinha Beira Mar and the Mercado Central de Fortaleza are great places to visit.

Fortaleza’s location lends itself perfectly for daytrips to places like Canoa Quebrada or Jericoacoara. Canoa Quebrada is a small fishing village with a stunning beach and amazing views from the cliffs and dunes. Jericoacoara is an even more unspoiled beach town. The city is also an excellent base if you are looking to head into the Amazon rainforest. It takes just over 5 hours to fly from Fortaleza to Manaus or you can take a more adventurous journey via buses or trains.
